ALBUMS

There's been 2 albums so far. The first was 'Unplugged' recorded in the early 90's. It was a nice mix of self-penned stuff recorded on a 4-track recorder (albeit a very good quality machine) although I ended up 'bouncing down' some tracks so some songs had 6 or 7 separate tracks in the final mix. I've never been that happy with the 'Unplugged' title. We decided on it because there had been a spate of such acoustically-flavoured albums released around that time (Eric Clapton did one I seem to remember) and on my album I'd made a point of only using acoustic instruments - apart from a sneaky bit of electric Fender bass on a couple of songs.

Sadly the original masters of this album have been lost as has my box of remaining copies, although I do have a couple of copies on cassette. Unlike the next album, this one was never available to buy in record shops - only available at my live gigs - so it's something of a rarity nowadays.

The second album was 'Kissing, Tearing and Losing'. Had a fair bit of radio play on BBC regional stations at the time and was available in most record stores. Around the time this came out I had to ask myself whether I really wanted to make music my career... I decided not. I already had a good steady 'career job' at American Airlines, I'd just met the woman I'm now married to, and the idea of jumping into the relative insecurity of life as a fulltime musician filled me with doubts and fears. I'm glad to say I've never regretted that decision. Read a review of the album HERE.

The Fountain

Took a few shots around by this derelict fountain; looks particularly striking in the black and white photos.

Note the Hofner Congress guitar.

In a secret garden

Here's that fountain again, this time from a different angle, with swimming pool in the background.

Through a wire fence

Quite a nice effect - the subject in the distance is in sharp focus, which gives a blurred effect to the fence in the foreground.

This shot shows the main swimming pool, maximum depth 12'6''.

Deserted Lido

Quite a haunting scene...

I2'6''

What was once the deepest part of the pool at Slough Lido...

Baylis House in the background.

In the 1920's, Baylis House was actually a hotel and this was when the original swimming pool was built.

The 'new' pool seen here was built in 1965.

Gateway to a secret garden

Walking through this archway took you from the main pool area to smaller pool and fountain.

The Lido

And here's that pool in all it's glory.  You can almost hear the splashing of water and the laughter of children echoing down the years.

Album cover art

This was going to be the front cover for my album, although in the end I opted for a colour photo instead.

This photo was used on the actual CD itself - note this picture shows the position of the fountain in relation to the pool.  The gateway just right of centre leads back to the main pool area.

The Album Cover

And finally, here's the photo that was chosen for the cover of the CD.
