PUBLICITY SHOTS

These photos were taken at the old Slough Lido in Baylis Park, Slough, just a few days before they bulldozed it into the ground.

Quite an evocative location for photography and these images capture the 'secret garden' quality perfectly.  As well as the main pool, there was a smaller, shallower pool through a hidden archway - we got photos of both, along with a fabulous stone fountain which creates quite a powerful image on film.

You can also see glimpses of Baylis House in the background on some shots.  The guitar you see here is my late 1950s Hofner Congress.

The Fountain

Took a few shots around by this derelict fountain; looks particularly striking in the black and white photos.

Note the Hofner Congress guitar.

In a secret garden

Here's that fountain again, this time from a different angle, with swimming pool in the background.

Through a wire fence

Quite a nice effect - the subject in the distance is in sharp focus, which gives a blurred effect to the fence in the foreground.

This shot shows the main swimming pool, maximum depth 12'6''.

Deserted Lido

Quite a haunting scene...

What was once the deepest part of the pool at Slough Lido...

Baylis House in the background.

In the 1920's, Baylis House was actually a hotel and this was when the original swimming pool was built.

The 'new' pool seen here was built in 1965.

Gateway to a secret garden

Walking through this archway took you from the main pool area to smaller pool and fountain.

The Lido

And here's that pool in all it's glory.  You can almost hear the splashing of water and the laughter of children echoing down the years.

Album cover art

This was going to be the front cover for my album, although in the end I opted for a colour photo instead.

CD Label

This photo was used on the actual CD itself - note this picture shows the position of the fountain in relation to the pool.  The gateway just right of centre leads back to the main pool area.

The Album Cover

And finally, here's the photo that was chosen for the cover of the CD.
